The Google Guarantee

You’ve heard of Checkatrade and TrustATrader, but you may not have heard of The Google Guarantee. Much like Checkatrade and TrustATrader, The Google Guarantee is another way of reassuring customers that they have chosen a reputable plumbing and heating business.

Having your business backed by The Google Guarantee will attract new customers. A guarantee badge will appear next to your business name and with Local Services by Google, you’ll appear at the top of the search, connect with customers in your area, and only pay when a customer gets in touch from your ad.

The Google Guarantee badge is available for businesses that pass a Google screening and qualification process through Local Services Ads.

If you’re backed by the Google Guarantee, and your customers (that came to your business through Local Services Ads) aren’t satisfied with the quality of your work, Google may, in its absolute and sole discretion, reimburse the customer up to the amount paid for the initial service, subject to a lifetime limit (which in the UK is £1500).

So, if a customer contacts you via your Google Guaranteed advert on Local Services they will be backed by the Google Guarantee whereby they can put in a claim if they are dissatisfied.
It’s worth noting though that there would be an investigation and you would be contacted before a refund is made.

It is only available for certain trades which includes:

Plumbers, roofers, and electricians amongst other trades

How does it work?

(These 5 steps, as shown on The Google Guarantee information page explain how)

Tell us about your business

Tell us where you’re located, what services you offer and set your budget so that we can show your ads to the right customers at the right time.

Become a Google Guaranteed provider

To become a Google Guaranteed business, we’ll ensure that your business meets local licence and insurance requirements.

Get discovered

We’ll start showing your ads on Google to customers in your area that are actively looking for your services.

Book jobs

Once a customer sees your ad, they can contact you directly from your ad. You choose what jobs you want to take and track your appointments

Maintain and grow

Use the dashboard or mobile app to maintain and grow your business by updating or pausing ads, optimising your account, and adjusting your budget.

This service has been running in US and Canada for some time now and is becoming more well known as it rolls out in the UK.

If you are keen to be recognised in your local area as the best, then you may want to consider getting The Google Guarantee.

I have attached a link to more information about The Google Guarantee and like always, if you would like to discuss ways to get your business noticed in your local area, then do not hesitate to get in touch.

More Information- CJRS and SEISS

As we start another week,  I felt it was important for me to share the latest updates with you regarding the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme. HMRC Recovery Powers HMRC have put together the draft legislative package to reclaim payments under CJRS and the Self-Employed Income Support Scheme. This is subject to a HMRC consultation which comes to an end on 12th June. Under the draft legislation, HMRC will have the power, by way of a 100% tax charge, to recover payments which were either: Not due Not used to pay wages and PAYE Not used to make pension contributions Penalties will be imposed where there has been deliberate non-compliance. This comes at the same time as HMRC have notified that, to date, they have picked up on nearly 2,000 fraudulent CJRS claims to date. This is, in part, due to ongoing calls to their Fraud hotline number 0800 788887 and also through their online whistle-blower report webpage. Big reminder – 10th June last dat...

WARNING - Self Employed Take Note

Who does this affect? Unincorporated businesses (sole-traders, partnerships, and limited liability partnerships) whose accounts year does not end between 31st March and 5th April.  What is the present position? For a particular tax year, you are normally taxed on the net profit per the accounts which end in that tax year. Example of the Present Position Tom has been self-employed for several years and draws up accounts to 30th April each year. His accounts to 30th April 2021 show net profit of £30,000. That is taxable in the 2021/22 tax year. What may change? The Government intend that all self-employed will pay tax and national insurance based upon net profit aligned to the tax year itself and not the accounting year end. Do I have to move my accounting date? No, you can retain your present accounting year end if you want. However, if the change comes into effect, for tax purposes, you will need to report your self-employed income and expenditure incurred based upon the tax year a...
